DJing a Basketball Game!

My friend is the president of a local elementary school’s PTA.  Every year they do a fund raiser parents versus teachers basketball game.  When she said she was looking for a DJ for the event, I volunteered.  Preparation for the event involved collecting a large number of jock jams, and doing a lot of research to see what kind of music was played at basketball games.  They hadn’t gotten anyone to be the announcer for the game, so I got to do that too.  We realized close the end of the first quarter that no one was keeping score.  There was someone keeping time, and referees making sure they were following the rules, but no score keeper.  I just started making up random numbers, which just added to the fun.  The key to music during sporting events is that they just play the beginning and the chorus.  Everyone gave me so many compliments, maybe this could turn into an annual gig, or maybe lead to other sporting events.  It was so much fun!

First Successful Wedding Dj’d as Glitter Galas

I have been Djing for about 12 years for dancers, and house parties, and various events.  But this weekend was my first time using my equipment and being the solo sound person for the event, and it was a great success!  The Bride said “Thank you for being a fantastic DJ!”.  I can’t wait until the next time.   Wish I had taken a picture, I’ll make sure to get one next time.

The secret to good DJing is Passion
